"RODNEY MOMENT" (Absolute plonker)
« on: October 13, 2018, 03:30:06 PM »
Sold my spare car to a work mate on Thursday  :'( he picked it up Thursday night. He was very pleased with it and there was I telling him how they were really good reliable cars, never let you down etc etc etc.

Got up Friday morning went out put the key in turned it on engine is turning over but won't start ??? Checked what I could in the dark no luck. Managed to get picked up for work and dropped off in the afternoon. Had a proper look and couldn't see anything obvious, starter is less than a year old, bridged the terminals and it was spinning freely, took the fuel line off and cranked it over. No problem except for the petrol everywhere.

As it was a crap day weather wise I gave up and phoned my daughters boyfriend to give me a tow to the bottom end of town 1.4 miles away(don't have home start on my breakdown policy). Phoned the breakdown company only to be told I'm not covered as I'm only 0.63 miles from my house as the crow flies,I told him my cab doesn't fly that didn't work. :o He said they could still send someone out at a cost of £90 plus £1.50 per mile for the round trip and if he didn't get it going it would need to be towed/classed as a separate call £60 plus mileage. As you can imagine I politely declined.

I was sitting at home two hours later when Gus (daughters boyfriend) phoned to ask if I had happened to get delivery of my new key fob I ordered online. The answer was yes it arrived on Thursday and I swapped the blade and circuit board into the new fob.

Next question was....did you swap the transponder into the new fob???

DOH !!!!!!! :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[Swapped the transponder over(thankfully I hadn't thrown the old fob away)and it started first time.

Lesson learned.
I'm all better now!
